Hi there,
We’re looking to build a new type of profile which allows students to gain a genuine insight in what it is like working at some of the top business in the UK. We’ve titled these overviews “social profiles” and here’s our first attempt at opening recruiters doors one.
We think the main benefits are:
- You can see photos of the offices, the people you’ll be working with and the surrounding area
- You can keep up to date with the latest news from Twitter, Facebook and RSS feeds
- You can hear direct from recruiters in their own videos about what they are looking for in the ideal application
Would be great to hear any thoughts or feedback – we’ll be looking to launch this on the 10th August 2009.Please take a look at the link below and feeback in the comments below – thank you!
I think this is a fantastic idea – this will draw a lot of students to the website – where they can then see what else the gradroom has to offer. Good marketing will be key for this to work I think. I particularly like the idea of recruiters videos – a lot of people would watch these for tips about how to get into certain sectors. Great idea guys.
Ok some feedback, firstly I think that social media is definately the way forward for a lot of companies and if you can provide a platform them that makes this easier then that is great.
I do wonder though, having been in many offices how many companies would actually be proud to share photos of their photocopying room, except perhaps after the Christmas party…
There are some great examples of companies using social media, so I have no doubt that others will be looking into this. One question I would have right now though, would be, to what extent do companies who aren’t actively employing large numbers of graduates, going to want to invest more money and more employee time into marketing and social media?
There is only way to find out the response, and that’s by giving it a go, and I think you have a great idea and concept here….
Good luck…
Sounds like a brilliant idea guys – I would absolutely go for it.
Love the whole cyber stocking you guys done with the mashups
Had a quick look at your prototype. quick thoughts:
* quite handy to see their different online activities all in one place (although how much of that is available?? growing I guess…)
* personally, it would only interest me if the content is worth looking at (don’t really want to wade through ‘propaganda’ videos…). Are recruiters in the UK (they seem to in the US) doing stuff like this already? I don’t really recall anything like it when I was job hunting, apart from a few cheesy videos on some employers’ careers sites.
* maybe what is needed (to meet the aim of ’seeing what it is like to work for before joining’) is a box for reviews. If there was a site which had people reviewing their grad schemes (like ratemyplacement?? not used it) then use their data to generate summary(ies)? Not sure the recruiters would be too keen though!!
Great mashup!
Richard.
Perhaps they could use something old-fashioned and reliable instead, like homemade peach jam. ,
It did get a bit boring in between, but there was a crisis situation which was introduced in between, on which we had to give solutions and then pass a resolution. ,
